Summer Holistic Detective Training

Service Description

This introduction programme focuses on getting you familiar with the basics - and positive side effects - of searching for something highly improbable. The course introduces you to techniques from investigative journalism, documentary filmmaking and mathematics to let you benefit from serendipity, unpredictability and the phenomenon of dark data. You will playfully use the power of the hypothesis in your conversations and work, get unstuck from patterns and fill your life with positive surprise. If you are looking to thrive in the face of uncertainty and opportunity, but dislike losing control; this training is for you. You will develop an investigative stance towards the improbable and the unexpected. You will learn learn to appreciate what you don't know – while getting help from strangers you meet along the way. You will join a growing global network of holistic detectives. Holistic detectives are both open and rigorous. They know from science that coincidences, miracles and rare events happen everyday - and they are keen to experience these firsthand. Commonly observed effects in people who take the training: 1) Frequent sense of positive expectation, as if you're about to scratch a lottery ticket. 2) Daily experience of delightful serendipity; finding things that you weren't looking for. 3) Getting help from wonderful people: “I’m growing a beautiful network outside my usual social and professional circles.” 4) Any place can become a fantastic place, any moment can become an adventure: "As a holistic detective, the investigation is where you are." What do you get? Three blocks of one-day training taught by senior practitioners, with long distance support during field work exercises. You will acquire 100% actionable skills to recruit sources and perform hypothesis-based inquiry. Training days Summer Edition: Friday 23 June 2023 Friday 21 July 2023 Friday 18 August 2023 Programme: BLOCK 1: GETTING STARTED 0.5 day - foundation and profiling 0.5 day - wait for something to happen, then act BLOCK 2: GO OUT ALONE 0.5 day - be delighted and rigorous with what you find 0.5 day - get into the holistic detective state of mind BLOCK 3: GO OUT AGAIN, TOGETHER 0.5 day - enrol others in your search 0.5 day - be delighted and rigorous with what you find Working hours: From 10am to 5pm The price excludes VAT and additional expenses for fieldwork, such as travel costs, and is per person. The training has a maximum of 10 participants.
